New Orleans Pelicans forward Dante Cunningham has been suspended for one game for pleading guilty in Washington to negligent driving while exhibiting the effects of having consumed alcohol.Cunningham will serve the suspension Friday night during the Pelicans home game against the Phoenix Suns.The 29-year-old is averaging 5.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in 21.4 minutes per game. He has started the past two games as the Pelicans (0-5) search for the right combination for their first win of the 2016-17 season.Cunningham was cited on suspicion of a DUI this past June. The Columbian, citing a report filed in Clark County District Court, reported that Cunningham was clocked going 67 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone. An officers report noted that Cunningham had bloodshot, watery eyes and smelled of alcohol. He failed a field sobriety test with a blood-alcohol content initially measured at .094, over the states legal limit of .08. His lawyer initially entered a plea of not guilty.The 8-year NBA veteran was charged with domestic abuse in Minneapolis in 2014, but the charges were later dropped when police concluded that his accuser fabricated some of the allegations against him.
