Manager Kelly Chambers is confident her players can rise to the occasion and preserve newly-promoted Reading Women’s top-flight status next season. Reading went up as champions last season and their promotion to FA Womens Super League 1 has seen them turn full-time, in sharp contrast to last term where they trained just two days a week. And Chambers, who becomes only the second female coach in FA WSL 1 after Chelsea Ladies boss Emma Hayes, says her side are relishing the prospect of testing themselves against the countrys best sides. My target is to stay up, Chambers told Sky Sports News HQ.Its a transition period at the moment, going from part-time to full-time. It has been a challenge for the girls, especially physically and getting their bodies used it.We all know its going to be tough. The league itself is growing with the talent that is already there and how the teams are developing. Its going to be tough but the players are really excited for the challenge ahead. Sportswomen caught up with Reading F.C. Women as they prepare for life in WSL 1 Readings preparations for the new season were boosted by a 2-0 pre-season friendly victory away at Aston Villa, with both goals coming from midfielder Lois Roche. The Royals begin the new season with a visit to Arsenal, who play at Boreham Wood, on March 23, and Roche says her team-mates cannot wait for the big kick-off next month. What better way to start off the season than away at Arsenal, Roche said. Its a great draw for us. Weve got quite a young team so were quite fearless in that aspect. Were all really looking forward to it. Every game this season is going to be like a cup final for us and as footballers I think we will all relish the challenge.Reading Women are playing their home games at Wycombe Wanderers Adams Park ground this year, with their first home match the reverse fixture against Arsenal on April 27. GRAYSON, Ga. -- Falcons coach Dan Quinn likes what he has seen from C.J. Goodwin, a former receiver turned cornerback. With Desmond Trufant held out of Friday nights practice at Grayson High School because of a hip injury, Goodwin manned the starting job at left cornerback. Its been a considerable climb up the depth chart for Goodwin, who spent 2014 as a receiver on Pittsburghs practice squad and joined Atlantas practice squad last November.Last year in practice, Quinn wanted to see what would happen if he lined up Goodwin at cornerback a few times opposite All-Pro receiver Julio Jones. Goodwin made enough plays on the ball for Quinn to move him to defense earlier this year.He had an interception in the end zone Friday against No. 2 quarterback Matt Schaub on a pass intended for tight end Austin Hooper in a two-minute situation. We know Goodwin has the ball skills, Quinn said. Were anxious to see him this preseason. Hes got length. Hes got speed. Hes got some of the prerequisites. He does not look out of place playing defensive back. Marquand has done a good job training him.---BACK IN THE SADDLEFormer Saints receiver Lance Moore signed Friday to compete for the No. 5 spot at his position.Jones, Mohamed Sanu and Justin Hardy are Nos. 1-3. Rookie Devin Fuller, a seventh-round draft pick, is an option at No. 4 because he was a standout return specialist at UCLA.Moore spent eight years with New Orleans and 389 ccareer receptions for 4,816 yards and 44 touchdowns, but he also has to beat out Eric Weems, a former Pro Bowl selection on special teams.dddddddddddd Weems has played in 16 games each of the last seven years.Aldrick Robinson is on the depth chart, too, and caught 30 passes for Washington in 2012-13 under Falcons and former Redskins offensive coordinator Mike Shanahan.Moore had a combined 43 catches the last two years with Pittsburgh and Detroit. Its an opportunity to extend my career, to play some more ball and play for a great franchise, Moore said. Great quarterback (in Matt Ryan) and definitely some awesome pieces on this offense. Im definitely going do whatever I can, not only to make this team but to make this team better.DEPTH CHART SHUFFLEVeteran linebackers Paul Worrilow and Sean Weatherspoon worked with the No. 2 defense as Deion Jones and DeVondre Campbell manned starting jobs along with strongside starter Vic Beasley.Jones, a second-round draft pick from LSU, worked as the starter at middle linebacker.
