The rookie electrified his constantly changing college offense at Pitt. He has done the same so far in Cincinnati. Coach Marvin Lewis said Thursday that Boyd has exceeded his expectations. The offense stalled itself by getting whistled at the Monday night scrimmage. Against the Chargers on Saturday at Nissan Stadium, the Titans need to show theyve sorted things out and can play clean. Poorly timed penalties were a big issue for the 2015 Titans, but things got better when coach Mike Mularkey took over. He expects his players to be diligent, disciplined and smart. -- Paul KuharskyAFC WESTDenver BroncosOn a night when the Broncos defense powered the team to yet another dominating win, Denver didnt see much separation in their quarterback battle. Mark Sanchez got the start and played the first quarter. He finished 10-of-13 passing for 99 yards, with a 32-yard touchdown toss to Demaryius Thomas?and?an interception. Trevor Siemian played the second quarter and would have had a touchdown if wide receiver Bennie Fowler had been able to maintain possession on a quality throw to his back shoulder. Siemian was 7-of-12 for 88 yards for the night. Both were efficient and helped the team move the ball as the Broncos outgained the Bears 344-130 yards. Rookie Paxton Lynch played the second half and went 6-of-7 passing for 74 yards. -- Jeff LegwoldKansas City ChiefsTight end Ross Travis is among the players the Chiefs want to get a long look at in Saturdays preseason opener against the Seahawks. Both Royal and Miller worked out at Soldier Field prior to Thursdays game against Denver. The first- and fourth-round picks, respectively, look like they have already carved out big roles on the Packers defense. Clark almost certainly will be called upon to stop the run and get after the quarterback, while Martinez is expected to be the defensive signal-caller from his inside linebacker position. They held the Patriots to a total of 25 yards on three drives in the first quarter. That is yet another sign of progress for a New Orleans defense that has struggled badly in recent years. The Saints might have suffered a big hit if second-year linebacker Stephone Anthonys injury is significant, but they have better depth there.
