By adding Trey Burke and Tomas Satoransky to the backcourt, and Andrew Nicholson and Ian Mahinmi to the frontcourt, all in a span of about 24 hours, the Washington Wizards attempted to improve their roster depth after missing the playoffs last season.According to a person familiar with the moves, the Wizards will acquire Burke by trading a 2021 second-round draft pick to the Utah Jazz. They also agreed Sunday to a $9 million, three-year contract with Satoransky. The Wizards will contribute $650,000 toward Satoranskys buyout from the Spanish club he has been with, the maximum amount NBA teams can pay. Satoransky was drafted in the second round in 2012 by Washington but has remained overseas since then. The person confirmed the Burke and Satoransky deals to The Associated Press, speaking on condition of anonymity because there is an NBA moratorium on such moves until next Thursday. Also Sunday, Washington agreed to a $26 million, four-year contract with Nicholson, a free-agent power forward who has spent his entire four-year NBA career with the Orlando Magic. Nicholsons agent, Mark Bartelstein, confirmed the terms of the deal to the AP.Nicholson wrote on Twitter: Truly blessed and honored to be part of the wizards organization! Thank you for this opportunity (and) cant wait to be in uniform! All three moves were first reported by Yahoo Sports.Burke was the No. 9 overall choice in the 2013 NBA draft out of Michigan and has averaged 12.1 points and 4.2 assists in three seasons with Utah, mostly as a starter for the first two but only as a reserve last season.Satoransky is a 6-foot-7 guard from the Czech Republic who is 24 years old.Nicholson is a 6-9, 250-pound Canadian who averaged 6.9 points and 3.6 rebounds last season, while playing under 15 minutes per game. A first-round pick by the Magic four years ago, he has averaged 6.5 points and 3.2 rebounds in the NBA, with a total of 36 starts.Mahinmi is a 6-11, 250-pound center from France who agreed Saturday to a $64 million, four-year contract and should be able to offer Washington needed help with defense and rebounding. He averaged career highs of 9.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists and about 25 minutes in 71 games, all starts, for the Indiana Pacers last season.By adding that quartet, one right after the other, the Wizards now have 10 players on the roster. They began the offseason with only five, before agreeing to a $128 million, five-year contract to hold onto shooting guard Bradley Beal, a restricted free agent.Last season, the Wizards went 41-41 to finish 10th in the Eastern Conference, after making two trips in a row to the second round of the playoffs. Canterbury coach Des Hasler can only resist moving Brett Morris back to fullback for so long.Morris starred for the Dogs in their round 17, 24-20 win over Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium on Thursday night, a victory that propelled the club into the NRLs top four. The representative winger scored a double to add to his treble in his first game of the year last week, following a long lay-off due to a knee injury.Morris was a constant threat to the Roosters with ball in hand. But aiding his probable return to fullback was another lacklustre defensive effort from Will Hopoate at the back. For the second time in two weeks Hopoate has been stood up easily by opposition players who have exposed his lack of pace.Hopoate has been great at the back for the Dogs for much of the season, but Morris starrred there last year in his first season at Belmore.ddddddddddddHasler has so far resisted playing Morris in the custodian role due to his lack of match fitness. But that could change ahead of the Dogs next match against Wests Tigers on Saturday week. With Hopoate likely to shift to the wing.Either way the Bulldogs look a much more dangerous side thanks to the return of Morris. He bring points to our side, Dogs coach Des Hasler said.He has a great ability to get to the tryline and really fight for tries.Bulldogs skipper James Graham said they were glad to have Morris back.He just finds his way to the tryline doesnt he? he said.He is an absolutely amazing finisher.
