The National Anti-Doping Agencys disciplinary panel that heard wrestler Narsingh Yadavs appeal against his positive dope test is yet to make up its mind on the matter. It is learnt that during Thursdays hearing, NADAs counsel sought evidence of sabotage. The agency is now likely to announce its decision on Saturday.Reacting to NADAs insistence on proof of sabotage, a senior Wrestling Federation of India official said, Its not for Narsingh or the federation to gather evidence in the matter. An FIR has already been lodged and the investigating authorities will look into the issue.NADAs lawyer Gaurang Kanth told reporters: The argument put forth by NADA is that hes not eligible for remission which he has been asking for because he has failed to establish that he did not commit any fault or negligence. And since he has not been able to establish how the banned substance had entered his body, we argued that he should be given punishment.Kanth said Narsingh did not produce the relevant circumstantial evidence that there could have been sabotage. They filed an affidavit that his drinks or water was spiked but they did not produce the evidence to prove it to satisfy NADA or WADA code, he said.Kanth added: We argued that the requirements of due diligence and care which was needed to escape from punishment was not provided as to satisfy the WADA code. So we said he should be given punishment as appropriate this panel thinks fit. We said as an international athlete he should have taken due care about his food and drinks. But from what he had produced before the panel there was nothing to prove due care on his part.Narsingh had tested positive for banned substance methadienone during a test conducted on June 25. Late on Tuesday, Parveen Rana was named as his replacement in the 74kg freestyle category so India wouldnt have to forfeit its quota place at Rio.During Wednesdays hearing, 26 year-old Narsingh and his lawyers, led by Vidushpat Singhania, submitted a 600-page affidavit to the three-member NADA panel, maintaining that the wrestler should be offered the benefit of doubt since the positive dope test was a result of sabotage. They insisted that it was an unintentional case of doping -- done without the wrestlers knowledge.Just ahead of the hearing on Wednesday, Narsinghs second dope test conducted on July 5 too had returned positive. At the 2012 London Olympics, Narsingh had lost his opening bout against Canadas Matt Gentry.(With agency inputs) Lindsey Horan USA Jersey .
