And he certainly knew the Redskins are using a backup long snapper signed a day earlier because of an injury to Nick Sundberg. The Detroit Lions beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 26-19.---4:10 p.m.Jared Goff is making his NFL debut in highly unusual circumstances: Its raining in Los Angeles.Rain began to fall about 90 minutes before kickoff at the Coliseum. Fans scurried up into the tunnels or donned ponchos while the players warmed up. The rain increased to a steady drizzle during pregame introductions, when Goff got the loudest cheers from the fans who had angrily chanted for his debut two weeks ago.The Rams werent immediately sure when they had last played a home game in the rain. They played in a dome in St. Louis after their 1994 departure from Anaheim, where it also hardly ever rains.- Greg Beacham reported from Los Angeles---4 p.m.Leonard Floyd, the Chicago Bears first-round draft pick from Georgia, was removed from the field on a stretcher with 5:53 to go against the Giants.The entire Bears team and several Giants gathered around in a show of support. Timmons was penalized for unnecessary roughness.Kessler pent several minutes on the ground before he was helped to the sideline. He was checked by medical personnel before leaving the field for further evaluation.Josh McCown replaced Kessler.Kessler has already missed one game with a concussion. He had to leave two other games with injuries.- Tom Withers reported from Cleveland---2:55 p.m.NFL sacks leader Dee Ford has a hamstring injury and wont be returning to the Kansas City Chiefs game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Ford entered the day with 10 sacks.Tampa Bay cornerback Brent Grimes has a quadriceps injury and also wont be returning.-Dave Skretta reported from Kansas City, Missouri---2:45 p.m.NFL rushing leader Ezekiel Elliott had zero touches in the second quarter for Dallas against Baltimores top-rated defense a week after having more than 200 yards from scrimmage against Pittsburgh.Elliott had six carries for 26 yards in the first half, and one catch for minus-1 yard.Dallas, which came in with the NFLs No. 1 rushing offense at 161 yards per game, had just 45 in the first half. Barth bounced back by kicking a 40-yard field goal later in the first quarter to give the Bears a 9-6 lead.Cincinnatis Mike Nugent had an extra-point attempt hit the right upright, preventing the Bengals from tying their game with Buffalo. Nugent also hit the upright on his try after Cincinnatis second touchdown, leaving the Bengals ahead 12-10.---1:25 p.m.Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Telvin Smith started against the Detroit Lions a day after his brothers funeral.Smiths brother, Brian Keith Moore, was shot and killed a week ago in their hometown of Valdosta, Georgia. Smith went home Monday and was excused from practices and meetings for much of the week. Clemmings from right tackle back to left tackle and reinserted Jeremiah Sirles as the starting right tackle for the game against Arizona. The Steelers bye this week will give Ben Roethlisberger time to heal without missing a game, but Jones could be in line for a few more starts before Big Ben returns.9. Kansas City Chiefs2016 record: 4-2 Week 7 ranking: 11The Chiefs continue to find ways to win, but does anyone fear them? They have a 4-2 record and the fourth-best turnover differential but only a plus-13 point differential. The Chiefs head to Indianapolis this week riding a two-game winning streak.10. Atlanta Falcons2016 record: 4-3 Week 7 ranking: 6The Falcons still sit atop the NFC South despite losing two in a row but they need to stop the bleeding. A home game against the Packers, who have won three straight against Atlanta, and two tough road games (Bucs, Eagles) await the Falcons before their Week 11 bye.11. Oakland Raiders2016 record: 5-2 Week 7 ranking: 14The Raiders are still chilling at the top of the AFC West standings, but are they for real? Of the five-win teams this season, the Raiders by far have the worst point differential (plus-6). A trip to Tampa in Week 8 could help bolster that margin though.12. Philadelphia Eagles2016 record: 4-2 Week 7 ranking: 15The Eagles have one offensive touchdown in their past two games. Their defense has one touchdown in that span, and their special teams unit has two. Its never a bad thing to get points from defense and special teams, but QB Carson Wentz needs to start moving the ball again, especially at Dallas in Week 8.13. Cincinnati Bengals2016 record: 3-4 Week 7 ranking: 16If you cant stop A.J. Green, its going to be tough to beat the Bengals. Case in point: Green is averaging 10 receptions and 174 yards in wins this season, compared with five receptions and 63 yards in losses. Washington will take its turn trying to stop Green this week.14. San Diego Chargers2016 record: 3-4 Week 7 ranking: 19The Chargers defense still has some problems, but pass rush is not one of them. Rookie defensive end Joey Bosa has recorded 4.0 total sacks in two of his three games and San Diego ranks in the top 10 in sacks and pressure percentage. Theyll be chasing after the Broncos in Week 8.15. Detroit Lions2016 record: 4-3 Week 7 ranking: 21Matthew Stafford has thrown 11 touchdowns with no picks in the Lions four wins this season, leading a fourth-quarter comeback in each game. Eventually the Lions may win by more than a score, but theyll have their work cut out for them in upcoming games at Houston and at Minnesota.16. Buffalo Biills2016 record: 4-3 Week 7 ranking: 8The Bills couldnt get their ground game going against the Dolphins and they lost, a common theme for them this season.dddddddddddd The Bills are averaging 73 rushing yards in losses and 212 rushing yards in wins. New York Giants2016 record: 4-3 Week 7 ranking: 12The Giants head into their bye 4-3, having won two straight after losing three straight after winning two straight. It has been a streaky season for first-year head coach Ben McAdoo and the G-Men, who are one of three teams with a winning record and a negative point differential this season.19. Washington Redskins2016 record: 4-3 Week 7 ranking: 9The Redskins have allowed a game-winning score in the final five minutes in two of their three losses this season. Those could come back to haunt them with the NFC East as tight as it is. The Redskins travel to London to face Cincinnati this week.20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers2016 record: 3-3 Week 7 ranking: 28Raise your hand if you thought it would be Jacquizz Rodgers who would be saving the Buccaneers season. Rodgers has posted his first two career 100-yard rushing games his past two games, rushing a total of 56 times. Rodgers & Co. will look to repeat against the Raiders in Week 8.21. Baltimore Ravens2016 record: 3-4 Week 7 ranking: 18The Ravens have lost four straight games for the first time since 2007 (when they lost nine straight), so this Week 8 bye probably couldnt have come at a better time. QB Joe Flacco has a lot to figure out: He has just two touchdown passes in his past five games.22. Carolina Panthers2016 record: 1-5 Week 7 ranking: 23The Panthers return to the field after a bye in hopes of ending a four-game losing streak. It wont be the NFC Championship Game rematch we all expected at the start of this season, but it could be a chance for Carolina to right the ship. The Panthers scored 49 against Arizona in the 2015 playoffs.23. Tennessee Titans2016 record: 3-4 Week 7 ranking: 22The Titans could be a lot better if they didnt have to play at home (1-3 this season). Tennessee is 2-10 at home with a minus-15 turnover differential the past two seasons (4-7, minus-3 on the road). Another home game awaits for the Titans on Thursday against Jacksonville.24. Indianapolis Colts2016 record: 3-4 Week 7 ranking: 24QB Andrew Luck is on pace for career highs in completion percentage, touchdown-interception ratio and Total QBR this season, yet the Colts are below .500. And believe it or not, after winning in Week 7 at Tennessee, Luck has a chance to win consecutive starts for the first time since 2014 when Indy hosts Kansas City in Week 8.25. New Orleans Saints2016 record: 2-4 Week 7 ranking: 20Its rare for the Saints defense to hold opponents to fewer than 30 points, but New Orleans has not taken advantage of those rare instances.
