ATLANTA - Braves general manager Frank Wren said Brandon Beachys right arm is "a little tender" and he wont make his season debut on Tuesday. Beachy, recovering from elbow-ligament replacement surgery in June last year, made his fifth minor league rehab start on Thursday for Triple-A Gwinnett at Rochester. After giving up three runs, two earned, three hits and four walks in three innings, Beachy was examined by a Braves doctor in Atlanta on Friday. "We think its a very minor setback," Wren said. "Were not sure exactly when well insert him back in. Its really a function of when hes feeling good again. "He was a little tender after the last start and this time he was a little more tender. ... They feel like its just inflammation they have to get out of there." Beachy is 2-1 with a 3.27 ERA in five minor league rehab starts. Wren said the team remains confident "everything is going to be fine" with Beachys comeback. "Hes disappointed," Wren said. "I think he was excited to get back out there and perform. So I think hes disappointed in that regard, but hes also a smart young guy. He knows thats the best thing." Earlier Friday, manager Fredi Gonzalez said Beachy was on track to pitch in Tuesdays doubleheader against the New York Mets. Wren said the Braves would select a replacement starter for Beachy on Sunday. Beachy was perhaps Atlantas top starter when his 2012 season ended, leading the NL with a 2.00 ERA. He was 7-3 with a 3.68 ERA in 2011. Starling Marte Jersey .J. Ellis hit two-run homers and the NL West champion Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Diego Padres 4-0 Saturday night. Speaking to reporters at the Canadian Open Pro-Am in Oakville, Ontario on Wednesday, the restricted free agent forward said that while theres no update yet, the negotiations should be fine as both sides are still working on a deal. "Nothing yet, but I know were still talking," Kadri said. "As long as theres progression, thats the important thing." Depending on how contract talks have been going, Kadri - who completed his entry-level deal and has no arbitration rights - could either land a big multi-year contract like Carolinas Jeff Skinner and Edmontons Taylor Hall, or sign a bridge contract similar to what Montreals P.K. Subban signed in February and Phildelphia Flyers centre Sean Couturier signed over the weekend. "Yeah, theres always comparables," said Kadri. "But I dont think theres too much for me to worry about. I just handle what I have to do on the ice and let everything take care of itself. Kadri, 22, was second in team scoring with 44 points in 48 games last season. "All I can control is the way I play," Kadri added.dddddddddddd "Obviously, I want to be here next year and for a long time to come so well see how it goes. You kind of want to get in the routine (of getting ready for next season), but Im confident that something will happen." Kadris point production trailed only veteran winger Phil Kessel, who is also on the radar in terms of contract speculation. Kessel is entering the final year of his five-year contract signed with the Leafs in 2008, but his future status with the club is not on his mind as he appraoches unrestricted free agency next summer. "I havent even thought about it yet," he told reporters on Wednesday. "Ive still got another year here and well see what happens." Many have speculated that the clubs decision to keep centre Tyler Bozak could be a factor in re-signing Kessel, as the two have had good chemistry on and off the ice. Maple Leafs general manager Dave Nonis locked up Bozak to a five-year deal worth $21 million on July 5. "Hes one of my good friends and its good to have him back," said Kessel. "Im looking forward to it. I think we have a real solid team and its going to be a good year." ' ' '
