Today, it is with great sadness that we announce that Luis Deilor Sevilla is stepping down as our League of Legends Head Coach, Fnatic announced in a press release today. We want to thank Deilor for all the passion, hard work and dedication he brought to Fnatic.Sevilla became one of the most decorated coaches in Western League of Legends history in under two years coaching Fnatic in the European League of Legends Championship Series. He led the team to two consecutive split championships last year, including the summer season where the team went an unprecedented 18-0 in the regular season. He also helped the team to an impressive record in international competitions: While Sevilla was head coach, Fnatic reached the semifinals of both the 2015 Mid-Season Invitational and 2015 World Championships, and this year the team made the finals of the 2016 IEM World Championship in Katowice, Poland.Although the team has found success abroad this year, Fnatic has struggled at home to keep its golden legacy intact. The team failed to three-peat in the spring split after three of its core players from the previous year departed in the offseason, including Bora YellOwStaR Kim, Kim Reignover Yeu-jin, and Heo Huni Seung-hoon. Fnatic finished in third place last split, and this season its even been a rockier ride, even with YellOwStaRs return. Fnatic will be entering its quarterfinal matchup in the playoffs as underdogs against the revitalized H2k Gaming on August 14.Our results are the consequence of how the team has been working and its clear that there are issues that Im not able to fix, said Sevilla in his departing statement. For the last couple of months my work hasnt [led] us to a healthy environment, the team has barely improved and we didnt have positive results. From my point of view, this is not acceptable with such a talented roster.Nicholas NicoThePico Korsgaard, formerly an analyst and head coach with Origen, has been promoted to head coaching duties for the remainder of the split.
