WASHINGTON -- Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is apologizing for characterizing as dumb and disrespectful the national anthem protests by San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and other athletes. The court released a statement from Ginsburg on Friday in which she said she was barely aware of the anthem protest and that her comments were inappropriately dismissive and harsh. Some of you have inquired about a book interview in which I was asked how I felt about Colin Kaepernick and other NFL players who refused to stand for the national anthem, Ginsburgs statement read. Barely aware of the incident or its purpose, my comments were inappropriately dismissive and harsh. I should have declined to respond. Its the second time in recent months that the 83-year-old Ginsburg has apologized for public comments. She said her comments criticizing Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in July were ill advised. The latest controversy arose after Ginsburg commented on Kaepernicks refusal to stand for the anthem, since adopted by other football players and athletes in other sports. She said the athletes have the right to protest if they want to be stupid.Kaepernick had a measured response to Ginsburgs initial comments. It is disappointing to hear a Supreme Court justice call a protest against injustices and oppression `stupid, dumb in reference to players doing that, Kaepernick said, according to The San Jose Mercury News.Information from The Associated Press was used in this report. "We just dont know what the results from Torino will be," Budgett said. Big games for sure. But must-wins? Far from it.If No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Ohio State are going to lose this season, this would be an excellent week to do so.During the brief history of the College Football Playoff, only two teams -- one each season -- have entered the semifinals unbeaten. So chances are, all the teams that look primed to make a playoff run, like the Crimson Tide and Buckeyes, will take a loss at some point. But heres the key for those contenders: Dont lose to a division rival, which could cost a chance to win the conference.Thats why this week is not a terrible to time for Alabama and Ohio State to stumble. Both are playing cross-division rivals on the road. The Tide go to No. 9 Tennessee and the Buckeyes are at No. 8 Wisconsin. Neither favorite would relinquish control of their division if they lost. The Tide could still roll through the SEC West and to Atlanta for the conference championship game. The Buckeyes could still go through Michigan to win the Big Ten East and move on to Indianapolis to play for a title.Last season, Ohio States only loss -- to East Division rival Michigan State -- kept the Buckeyes out of the Big Ten championship and the playoff. Alabama almost got itself into the same position by losing to Mississippi early in the season, but Florida and Arkansas gave the Tide the help it needed to win the conference by defeating the Rebels. So, Tide and Buckeyes fans, dont sweat Saturday. The picks:FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTSDuke (plus 35+) at No. 7 LouisvilleAnother Friday night of Lamar Action Jackson and the Cardinals ...
