DENVER -- Tyler Chatwood pitched six strong innings, Nolan Arenado hit a go-ahead single and the Colorado Rockies beat the Chicago Cubs 4-3 on Sunday to win the three-game series. Chatwood (6-3), who went the distance last time out but was a tough-luck loser to Zack Greinke and the Los Angeles Dodgers 1-0, allowed seven hits and two runs, one earned. Starlin Castro had four hits for Chicago, matching a career high, and Anthony Rizzo homered. Edwin Jackson (6-11) settled down after a rough start to go seven innings, allowing five hits and four runs -- three earned. All the damage off him came with two outs. Jackson, whose three-game winning streak was snapped, struck out five and walked two, both in the sixth. With two outs, he walked Carlos Gonzalez and, after Gonzalez stole second, issued a free pass to Michael Cuddyer. Arenado followed with a single to shallow centre that Junior Lake fielded on the run. Gonzalez beat his errant throw home, which sailed over the head of catcher Welington Castillo. The ball bounced off the backstop and rolled into the Rockies dugout, allowing Cuddyer to score from third. Arenado also came home but the umpires sent him back to second, ruling the ball dead when it rolled into the dugout. Rex Brothers, in the closer role with Rafael Betancourt (appendix) on the disabled list, allowed a leadoff double in the ninth by Castro, who scored on Alfonso Sorianos groundout. After walking Cody Ransom, Brothers struck out Lake for his fifth save. Like Jackson, Chatwood had a shaky first inning but managed to get out of it unscathed. With one out, Castro and Rizzo hit successive singles. After Soriano grounded into a fielders choice, Nate Schierholtz drew a walk to load the bases before Chatwood fanned Lake, blowing a 95 mph fastball past him for the third strike. Chatwood couldnt escape trouble in the sixth, though. Rizzo started the inning by homering into the left-field bleachers for his 14th of the season. One out later, Schierholtz and Lake hit back-to-back singles and both advanced on Chatwoods errant pickoff throw, leading to Schierholtz scoring on Darwin Barneys sacrifice fly as Chicago tied it at 2. Colorado took a 2-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Gonzalez and a run-scoring double by Cuddyer. Willie Upshaw Jersey .Y. - Jerome Samson scored once in regulation and again in the shootout as the St.Mark Bennett admits he may end up paying for his Olympic silver with his Scotland place. The Glasgow centre opted out of joining Scotlands summer tour of Japan as he chased glory at the Rio games. His gamble paid off to the extent that he walked away from Brazil with a medal hanging from his neck after making it all the way to the final of the mens sevens competition with Team GB.But his absence on the Far East trip opened the door for Stormers back Huw Jones. The Edinburgh-born 22-year-old only made a brief appearance in the second Test clash with Japan at the end of June but it was enough to convince head coach Vern Cotter he was capable of facing Australia in the opening autumn international.A try brace underlined his potential, with Jones following up his Wallabies display with an impressive assist for Sean Maitland in last weekends win against Argentina.Injury, however, means Jones misses out on Saturday when the Scots round off their November clashes against Georgia in Kilmarnock and Bennett knows he needs to take this opportunity or else he may find himself out in the cold for good.Bennett - who was nominated for World Rugbys Breakthrough Player of the Year 12 months ago - said: Im delighted to be back in the squad, Huws been playing for the last few weeks and Ive been given an opportunity this weekend. I want to stake a claim and keep the shirt. The competition in the squad is huge, going away to Rio when the team were in Japan meant there was the opportunity for someone else to have that chance. Huw was given the chance to stake a claim and thats whats happened.I need to do my best this weekend to do well and take that jersey back. Huw has been outstanding in the first two games, I cant say any more than that. I just need to go out and be outstanding.Cotter is not short on options in midfield, with Bennetts Glasgow colleague Alex Dunbar on a list that also includes Jones, Saracens Duncan TTaylor and Matt Scott of Gloucester, who despite being one of Scotlands most reliable servants in recent years did not even make the squad for the autumn Tests.ddddddddddddIts clear to see theres a good group there, admitted Bennett. There are five or six boys who can play and any of us could start. Its about going out and playing well and this weekend is no exception. Its become more competitive week in and week out. There is a real fight at training to stake a claim as the coaches are watching when they are picking a squad. Its a case of knowing you have to go out there every day and give of your best.Saturdays match at Rugby Park will be something of a homecoming for Cumnock-born Bennett - who is one of five changes to Scotlands side that edged out Argentina. But the 23-year-old is more concerned about ensuring the Georgians do not leave Ayrshire with a notable scalp. He said: Its the same as any other game, you need to do your best to win it.Georgia are a good side, they are up and coming. They had a great win last weekend against Samoa. Samoa ran us close at the World Cup so we know how big a test this will be for us, we need to go and out and make sure we get the win.Are we under more pressure against one of the so-called smaller nations? I dont think its any different, its an international fixture. You want to put a big score up against every side you play. It just doesnt always happen. Its about going out and playing the game and taking it as it comes.?Bennett takes Jones slot in the only change to the back division. In the pack, Ross Ford returns to replace Fraser Brown at hooker.Richie Gray has shaken off a head knock to reclaim his place at lock from Grant Gilchrist. In the back-row, Magnus Bradbury and John Barclay are replaced by Ryan Wilson and Rob Harley. ' ' '
